The sun basked 2009 Grand Procession led into Pioneer Park for a fun afternoon at the HireQuip Saturday in the Park

This family afternoon extravaganza was packed with fun. Everyone had a chance to have close up look at the beautiful handcrafted floats,  before voting for a favourite Float in the Best Float Competition, with the Alexandra and Alexandra-Dunstan Lions Clubs winning this esteemed prize.

The Blossom Queen contenders were all there, as was great entertainment from Amanda Goodwin and the Mighty Mighties, Shay Horay and Ceroc Southern Lakes.

Children were entertained by performances from Ronald McDonald, Morris and Morris, and Mary Kippenburger's story telling captured many imaginations.

There was a vast array of food available, from Fair Ground fare to Rabbit Pies and Gourmet Burgers. An array of carnival style rides were popular throughout the day, sending a constant a scattering of giggles and shouts thoughout the park.

Talented local artists and craftspeople showcased their works and the Axe Men displayed consistant strength.

The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra played to a happy crowd, with existing and new fans enjoying their quirky performance.
