The creative fashion event of Central Otago

Alexandra is surrounded by farms that supply New Zealand and the world with quality wool products. 

WoolOn™  is a fashion and design competition that encourages the creative use of the high quality wool produced in Central Otago.

The 2009 event was a sell out, with the crowd enjoying garments in a range of categories and breathtaking performances by Fuse Circus.

We are now inviting entries to the 2010 Wool On™ competition - please download the information on your right. Early entries close 31 July, 2010. Late entries accepted until 15 August 2010.

 

The Supreme Award
The WoolOn™ Supreme Award carries a $2000 cash prize, a Magnum of superb Two Paddocks Pinot Noir signed by Sam Neill and vouchers for product to the value of $700 from Touch Yarns.

 

The Young Designer Award

The Young Designer Award sponsored by Stewart & Associates, Lawyers & Realtors is open to school students and showcases the creative flair and technical ability of the young designer.  It carries a $500 cash prize and goods to the value of $100 from Touch Yarns.

 

The Knitwear Award
 
The Knitwear Award sponsored by Two Paddocks opens the door for creativity in handknitted garments, with high technical skill and something extra. This Award carries a $500 cash prize, a bottle of Two Paddocks wine and vouchers to the value of $100 from Touch Yarns.

 

The Creative Award

The Creative Award is sponsored by that creative media company, Mediaworks and presents unique garments that tell a story. The Award carries a $500 cash prize, a bottle of Two Paddocks wine and goods to the value of $100 from Touch Yarns.

 

The Felted Award
Buff Day Spa
The Felted Award is sponsored by Buff Day Spa and encourages innovation with excellent use of felting techniques to create fashion items. It carries a $500 cash prize, a bottle of Two Paddocks wine and vouchers to the value of $100 from Touch Yarns.

 

The Accessory Award

The Accessory Award sponsored by Urban Edge shows how wool can be used to create that something extra to complement an outfit. This Award carries a $500 cash prize, a bottle of Two Paddocks wine and product to the value of $100 from Touch Yarns.

 

The Streetwear Award
Aspiring Kea Motors
The Streetwear Award shows off imaginative designs for everyday wear which are fashion forward, young and edgy.  It carries a $500 cash prize, a bottle of Two Paddocks wine and vouchers to the value of $100 from Touch Yarns.

 

The Special Occasion Award
Touch Yarns
The Special Occasion Award sponsored by Touch Yarns provides an avenue for designers to present exquisitely crafted garments for evening wear or that special occasion. This Award carries a $500 cash prize, a bottle of Two Paddocks wine and vouchers to the value of $100 from Touch Yarns.

 

This years Awards will be judged by Tamsin Cooper fashion designer and label founder, Sara Aspinall designer and founder of the fashion label Company of Strangers, and Sara Jackson of Carlson Retail Store, Dunedin.
