The creative fashion event of Central Otago
Every year this event attracts imaginative designers and 2011 was no exception, with 47 entries in the eight categories.
Although there are new designer entrants each year, Alexandra woman Daphne Randle has entered every WoolOn™ event since its inception and in 2011 year took out the Supreme Award.
2011 winners were:
- Supreme Award winner: Daphne Randle, Alexandra, “Tribute to Christchurch Cathedral”.
- Young designer: Kensa Randle, Alexandra, “Merino Queen”.
- Creative: First equal, Daphne Randle, Alexandra, “Tribute to Christchurch Cathedral and Laurel Judd, Napier, “Oh Possum”.
- Streetwear: Viv Tamblyn, Gore, “Powerade”.
- Felted: Denise McGirr, Naseby, “Big Bad Wolf”.
- Special occasion: Melanie Child, Waitati, “Suit Jacket Dress”.
- Menswear: Joan Leach, Dunedin, “Car Coal revisited”.
- Knitwear: Daphne Randle, Alexandra, “Sea and Sky”.
- Accessory: Carolyn Laing, Clyde, “Can I Frill U”.
The 2012 WoolOn™ award is proposed for Friday 28 and Saturday 29 September.
