The creative fashion event of Central Otago

Alexandra is surrounded by farms that supply New Zealand and the world with quality wool products. 

WoolOn™  is a fashion and design competition that encourages the creative use of the high quality wool produced in Central Otago.

The 2009 event was a sell out, with the crowd enjoying garments in a range of categories and breathtaking performances by Fuse Circus. This years competitors embraced the high versatility of wool and the craftsmanship and techniques that can be applied to wool products.

Supreme Award Winner, catagory sponsored by The Southland Times

Laurel Judd with her Special Occasion gown. Judges commented that this garment "puts the sex back into wool!"

Young Designer, catagory sponsored by Stewart and Associates Lawyers and Rabbit Range

Winner: Chloe Hishon. Judges commented that there is "So much talent shown in this piece, like a piece of art. We were blown away."

Knitwear, catagory sponsored by Two Paddocks

Highly Commended: Riva Rebecca Nadarajah. Judges commented that "This looks like a ball dress, and is such a lovely flattering shape"

Winner: Daphne Randle. Judges commented that this is "Such a striking piece that is so beautifully made"

Highly Commended: Alysha Gover. Judges commented that this is a "Architecturally very interesting piece, almost sculptural"

Winner: Sally Reynolds. Judges commented that that this is a "Very striking outfit that obviously tells a story"

Highly Commended: Andrea Bonney. Judges commented that the "Picture within the felting is very pretty, also a very wearable and cute dress"
